How to take a survey!

August 11th, 2008

Ok, so this is going to blow all of you away! I wanted to find out the average number of computers per home. So last night I was thinking about how I could go about doing that. I did some Googling and found some data that indicated that there is roughly 1.5 computers per home. At the same time, I thought about where I could find out if that number was accurate. So what did I do? I asked a question on LinkedIn. I got 63 replies in less than 12 hours!!

That is a phenomenal number of replies given the time the question has been active. I think they are relatively balanced as well because the population on LinkedIn is not particularly computer savvy (although they have to be to an extent just to use the site, but they are business people, not computer geeks….mostly ~_^). Anyways, I haven’t tallied everything up yet because I have 7 more days for the survey to run. I’ll collect the numbers at the end and post them up here in case anyone is interested what the average number of computers is per household :).

Census data for Centreville

August 10th, 2008

earned some interesting things this evening about Centreville.

It seems that according to the 2000 census data that there is roughly 17,000 households here in Centreville. That was a little eye opening because there is almost assuredly more now!

My question is how do we get in contact with these home owners and let them know about Centreville?

Drive in Theater!!!

August 6th, 2008

We are going to be having a drive in theater here in Centreville every Saturday for the month of August. Even though the first movie was a bit of a bust because we got rained out, I have high hopes for the next one! It was quite an impressive operation and I am looking forward to seeing the movie on the big screen! If you’d like more information there is some at the Centreville Community Foundation website.

This coming Saturday is going to be the Spiderwick Chronicles. I am interested in finding out what this movie is all about. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of it before, so it should be interesting. Especially given the other movies which are going to be playing the other nights of the week.

Come check it out and comment if you are planning to come! :).

Mobile Blogging

August 4th, 2008

One of the most impressive things about this new blog is the ability to post from my mobile phone. I am going to be making use of this handy feature since I am rarely (ironically) in front of a computer. This inparticular post was a test of this technology - but I am fairly pleased with the result. It is nice to know that I can get a post up quickly without worrying about having to drag my laptop around with me!

Speak to ya’ll soon!

Sheila Thompson Presents at the Northern Virginia Business Alliance

August 4th, 2008

This wednesday, we are going to be graced with one of the first presentations that I have seen from Sheila Thompson. Sheila is one of the areas most influential Aflac representatives and also a good friend.

She will be sharing with us the benefits of working with Aflac and also showing us how we can refer business her way. This is a presentation that should be quite entertaining, and if I am right, there should be some promotional giveaways (ducks, anyone?) :).

Comment if you are thinking of coming! :).

Your Resource Card

August 4th, 2008

I have found that there are so many different things that I am involved in that putting them all into one place would allow all of my various networks to interact with each other. This blog is an attempt to bring together all of the events and people that I know into one spot so they can garner the value that they all bring to the table and use it to create a great community around GoKolansky LLC, my business.

I will be updating this blog soon with some “real” content. Stay tuned! ^_^.

-Dan
